We are excited to welcome Darren Bjornson to the grain team! Learn more about Darren and join us as we congratulate him on his new role as a Grain Originator.

Thank you for this opportunity to introduce myself! I grew up in the Valley City - Barnes County area and have always enjoyed the abundant outdoor activities that area provides. I especially enjoy ice-fishing and spending time outdoors with my sons. Summertime brings the opportunity to spend time with family at the lake, and we recently moved to Fargo to be near our kids. My wife, Paige is a banker in Fargo, and those ‘kids’ are actually three adult children - two sons and a daughter – and also a new daughter-in-law just this past year!

My start in agriculture was with my family, growing up working on the family farm and eventually going on my own after high school. I attended NDSU, taking classes during the ‘Winter Semesters.’

Production agriculture kept me busy for 20 years, and throughout that time the grain markets always intrigued me. I learned that growing a crop sometimes was the easiest thing to do, while selling it seemed to be the hardest. The opportunity to expand my knowledge on grain marketing came to me in the form of a merchandiser position then a general manager position at a shuttle loader. My experience from the farm, and the work ethic that comes with that was a terrific fit and led to 15 years of business with our local growers. I attribute my success in this career to knowing what it is like to sit on both sides of the desk, as a grower/seller and a buyer.

We look forward to having Darren help producers meet their needs and further their relationship with MRGA.
