The Denton facility was designed to expand to one million square feet. Because the project was so large and widespread, the efficient circulation of goods, people, and support systems was a critical issue. The concept of modules arranged along a "Spine" served to organize the spaces, while allowing flexibility in adding future modules as needed. The module wings were designed as large, open floor plates which could be easily converted from administration to light manufacturing.

Another issue in designing this stand-alone facility was the necessary location of core services at the center of the complex. In order to avoid overbuilding the core services, provisions were made for expansion in the overall scheme. The core included a cafeteria, offices, a warehouse, a chemical storage dock, and a central utilities plant. An underground automated delivery system connects the warehouse and service dock with the modules through a tunnel network located under the Spine. Free cooling "economizer" mechanical systems serve the entire complex.
